Where we're headed
Amistad is a growing school, and our leadership and board are continually thinking about how to strengthen our bilingual program, our facilities, and our community for the years ahead.
We are in the process of finalizing a formal strategic vision that reflects input from our families, teachers, and Head of School Annette Galindo. We want to share it publicly once it is complete rather than post an early draft.
Four priorities for the years ahead
1. Deepen the bilingual program
Strengthen vertical alignment from Little Learners through Middle School so every student graduates genuinely bilingual and biliterate, with Spanish-language instruction that grows in rigor at each stage.
2. Invest in our teachers
Recruit and retain native and near-native Spanish-speaking educators through competitive compensation, ongoing professional development, and real pathways for growth inside the school.
3. Make Amistad accessible
Grow the financial aid and Esperanza Rising Fund so family income never determines whether a child can join this community, and keep expanding the subsidy partnerships that already help many of our families.
4. Strengthen campus and community
Continue improving our facilities, extend partnerships across Seattle, and build the alumni and family networks that keep Amistad connected long after 8th grade.
