Welcome to Nuestra Amistad, the official School & Community Blog of Seattle Amistad. Here, we share updates from our classrooms, highlight community events, and celebrate the vibrant spirit that makes our bilingual, multicultural school so special.
From parent resources to student achievements, and from cultural celebrations to everyday classroom moments — this is where language, love, and learning come together in one voice.
Monsters Made REAL: A Creative Collab
When Amistad students created and named their own monsters in Ms. Shelly’s art class, they had no idea those drawings would become real. Thanks to a collaboration with Garfield High School’s sewing program, their imaginative creatures were transformed into hand-sewn stuffed toys—sparking joy, surprise, and an unforgettable moment of creative connection.
More Than Childcare: Inside Amistad’s Early Learning Program
At Seattle Amistad School, our Early Learning Program is more than childcare—it’s the beginning of a bilingual, curiosity-driven learning journey. Inside our toddler and preschool classrooms, students thrive through Spanish immersion, play-based curriculum, and nurturing relationships that build a strong foundation for lifelong learning.

This visit brought our mission to life—showing how learning expands beyond the classroom into community, culture, and connection.
Learning in Motion: Capoeira with Silvio Dos Reis
Capoeira brought music, movement, rhythm, and history into our classrooms, inviting students to learn through culture, language, and joy. Through clapping, singing, observing, and stepping into the roda—yes, even our baby capoeiristas—students experienced Afro-Brazilian heritage in a way that felt alive, connected, and deeply Amistad.
Standing Together!
As families face food insecurity during the federal shutdown, Seattle Amistad School stands united — sharing local food resources, community partners, and the support of our very own Family Pantry filled by our families for our families.
Día de los Muertos: Honoring Life, Love, and Legacy
Our Día de Muertos celebration honored tradition, love, and remembrance — with heartfelt student performances, beautiful altars, and vibrant community energy that reminds us how connected we truly are
