Little Learners

3 Years · Mariposas

Butterflies — Mariposas in Spanish — is where 3-year-olds spread their wings, growing more independent as their Spanish vocabulary and confidence take flight.

At 3 years old, children are ready for more structure and more social learning, and the Mariposas classroom is designed around both. Story time, dramatic play, art, and circle-time songs are all led in Spanish, giving children daily practice using longer sentences and more complex ideas.

Full immersion remains central, but children in this age group start to use Spanish more actively — asking questions, negotiating with friends, and narrating their play — as their comprehension turns into confident expression.

Families can expect a classroom that balances warmth with growing independence: consistent routines, close relationships with teachers, and the beginning of the social-emotional skills — sharing, turn-taking, problem-solving — that prepare children for Pre-K.
